Dear Parents

Please find attached the Ofsted Subject Inspection Report for Business Education was carried out just prior to half term.
It is the first Ofsted inspection we have had using the new framework (September 2009) and
as a school we were delighted to be judged as Good” - Grade 2 overall. We had one judgement that was "satisfactory” (Achievement), which I would like to set in context. This judgement is made by comparing the attainment of Business Studies students in 2009 (52 students, 57% A*-C) with the national average pass rate for Business Studies which was 63% A*-C. Sadly, this judgement is very crude and simply because we were below the national average we were deemed to be “satisfactory”. The inspector would not take into account the ability profile of the students nor the fact that two students in the group did not sit their final exam. Fortunately, he did recognise that learning and progress were both good!
 With thanks and best wishes.
